Logan McIlwain is a licensed clinical social worker in Baton Rouge.
After earning his Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University, Logan began his career with Capital Area Human Services District, providing therapy through Children’s Behavioral Health Services and the School-Based Therapy Program. These early roles gave him hands-on experience supporting children and families through emotional and behavioral challenges and shaped his commitment to practical, evidence-based care.
As his passion for helping families grew, Logan transitioned into private practice, where he continues to work with children, adolescents, young adults, and parents. His clinical work is complemented by his role on the faculty of LSU’s School of Social Work, where he teaches and mentors graduate students preparing for clinical practice.
Logan also partners with schools, parent groups, and community organizations as a speaker, helping translate mental health research into real-world strategies families can use at home and in daily life. His book, Parent Parkway, reflects this mission—offering accessible tools for navigating conversations about boundaries, relationships, and digital culture.
He has completed advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent Management Training, and is a Qualified Parenting Coordinator and Qualified Child Custody and Visitation Mediator in the State of Louisiana.
Clients describe Logan’s approach as calm, collaborative, and practical. He focuses on helping children build emotional skills while equipping parents with clear, actionable strategies. Whether working with individuals or families, his goal is to help children feel understood—and to help parents feel confident, capable, and supported.
